Vladimir Ashkenazy's playing of the "Funeral March" (3rd movement of 2nd piano sonata) is perhaps the best example of how well he understands Chopin's genius music. The tempo is deliberate, at about the speed that people marching/walking during a funeral procession would walk, and with the accents and intonations at the right places/5(20).

Étude Op. 10 No. 3, in E major, is a solo piano work composed by Frédéric Chopin. This is a slow cantabile study, in which the right hand must maintain a singing tone in the melody whilst contributing to the accompaniment.

Vladimir Ashkenazy (piano) An exciting and fiery interpretation of the Etudes. Ashkenazy's magnificent rendition of the famous Revolutionary Study (Op. 10 No. 12) is one of the best - rhythmically well-grounded and strong-pulsed.

You'll notice this problem especially in the "Revolution" Etude (Op 10, No. 12). - In Ashkenazy's defense, Chopin did want his students to grace the keyboard with as little pressure on keys as possible; maybe pianists are supposed to glide over the keys in these Etudes. You have to do that to a certain extent just to play the Etudes.4/5(16).
